Enjoy the photos below of our spectacular day . . . made even more enriching by Karen's expertise on Gauguin!
Our first stop was for lunch at the Cleburne Cafeteria, a Houston institution dating back to 1941! They served the best homestyle cooking in a welcoming, efficient environment. We'll definitely be back!
The rest of the day unfolded beautifully at the MFAH, where every moment was thoughtfully curated. We began with Karen's engaging mini-tour of the superb Beck Collection, which offered a brief, yet enriching exploration of French Impressionist masterpieces.
From there, we were off to a guided tour of the Grounded in Clay exhibition, where we discovered the artistic and cultural significance of distinctive pottery from Pueblo tribal communities.
It was a natural transition to the highlight of the day: a guided tour of Gauguin in the World, an extraordinary collection of more than 150 paintings, prints, sculptures, and drawings. Thanks to the preparatory readings Karen had provided, we were ready to fully appreciate the spectacular exhibition.
Reflecting on our time together was a reminder of the joy that art, history, and shared experiences can bring!
