Please enjoy my photos below and a few of my favorite works of art—especially the darling dog!
What a fantastic way to kick off the New Year! Our first stop in Fort Worth was the Amon Carter Museum, where we enjoyed insightful docent-guided tours of Jean Shinn's site-specific installation and a selection of complementary works from the collection.
After exploring the Amon Carter, we had free time for lunch, with options to suit every pace—some opted for a quick bite at the Kimbell Café, while others enjoyed a more leisurely, delicious meal at Café Modern (please see my enormous, fabulous pot pie below!) A few participants made a quick visit to the Cowgirl Museum or spent time in the Modern.
We then regrouped at the Kimbell for the highlight of our visit: docent-guided tours of Dutch Art in a Global Age. This exceptional exhibition featured a collection of paintings from the MFA Boston, and four masterpieces from the Kimbell Collection, offering a glimpse into the Dutch Golden Age—a period of immense cultural flourishing fueled by international trade and exploration.
To complement the day's theme, we enjoyed Stroopwafels and mandarin oranges in the morning, followed by an afternoon treat of Dutch beer, pretzels, and chocolates. It was a perfect blend of art, culture, and cuisine, setting the tone for an inspiring year ahead.!
